Holocaust #5 (Poland) 1991

Holocaust #5 (Poland) 1991. Editor: Tomasz Krajewski”

Classic  zine from eventual Pagan Records (Poland) founder Tomasz Krajewski. Features an interesting editorial on the prevalence of trendy death metal people inhabiting the scene at the time, as well as an article on the occult called “The Voice of the Dark” by a fellow from Mexico named Alberto Vorkt Jimenez. The cover and back cover establish a brilliant, minimalistic touch, setting a great mood as you move through the text within. Has interviews and features with Afflicted, Possessed, Benediction, Imperator, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Revenant, Samael, Sindrome, Unleashed, Thanatos, and many more.

Infernal Zine #2 (Rovaniemi, FINLAND) 1992 (In Finnish)

Infernal Zine #2 (Rovaniemi, FINLAND) 1992. Editors: Esa Juujarvi and Matti Selin

Here are some excerpts from this fantastic stapled and printed zine from the northern Finnish town of Rovaniemi (better known as the folkloric home of Santa Claus to some). The zine is all in Finnish, so the few Finns that do stop by here will get more out of it than most. It features pretty much ONLY Finnish bands from the time, and was packed out with locals that never made it, but also more popular notables like Sentenced, Vomiturition (now known as Rotten Sound), cult heroes Adramelech and Depravity (whose members went on to be in Sonata Arctica and Korpiklaani), and also Thergothon, Mordicus, God Forsaken, and hometown black metal dudes Black Crucifixion, among others.

Diabolical Noise #6 (Poland) 1993.

Diabolical Noise #6 (Poland) 1993. Editor: Jaro Szubrycht

This zine out of Poland was photocopied and folded together, with no staple, yet still super cool with great outlines, borders, and a nice sense of humor. The obvious drawback is the super small type (but that can be fixed by ‘zooming in’ on the pages/jpegs as needed with or without your browser), but beyond that there is demo-era interviews (or articles about) Cradle of Filth, Enslaved, and (a tiny) one on Behemoth. Additionally, there are some excellent scene reports from the UK and elsewhere, inties with Thergothon, Immolation, Inverted, Cannibal Corpse, Unleashed, Corpus Rottus, and much more.
