No Trend Press #2 (Germany) 1987. Editors: “Boris Kadlicek” and “Servais Grivel” (auf Deutsch)
Crossover zine from ’87 with a good mix of thrash/core, hardcore and early death metal. In German (for those who can read it), features and interviews with Lärm, Annihilator, Cremains, Impetigo, Bad Attitude, Carcass, Autopsy, Chemical Waste, Realm, Atrophy, Desperate Minds, Messiah Death, Genoa, Kazjurol, Terminal Confusion, Lawnmower Death, Hellchild, Dead Conspiracy, Raging Fury, Macabre, Anacrusis, Obliveon, Nox Mortis, Ice Age, Righteous Pigs, Savage Thrust, Despair, Sheer Terror, Shellshock, Malicious Grind, Sindrome, Wild Rags Records, and there is also an interesting anti-Carnivore rant, claiming they are nazis/fascists…I guess Mr. Steele’s humour was lost in translation. Thanks to BERND B. for the contribution!

Message From the Gutter #1 (Germany) Oktober, 1987. Editors: “Markus Staiger” and “Martin Purr” (Auf Deutsch)
Message From the Gutter – the zine from Nuclear Blast Records’ head guy Markus Staiger from 1987 (along with Martin Purr of Cyclone Empire Records). This issue represented very much the punk/hardcore/grind roots of the label, features (for those who can read German) a very cool travel diary from July ’87 to NYC and elsewhere, also interviews with Attitude Adjustment, Cancerous Growth, Impulse Manslaughter, Extreme Noise Terror, Marginal Man, No Fraud, Septic Death, Slaughter, SOD – Sound of Disaster (SWE) , and more. *(Thanks to Bernd B. for the contribution!).

Clandestine Zine (Santiago, Chile) #1 July 1994. Editor: “Robert P. Zarathustra”
Here at SBMS, a noticeable lack of zines from the non-English speaking world compelled me to start digging up the zines I have in other languages, so here is a first from Chile (in Spanish). The main feature of this issue is a lengthy interview with Uruguay’s Inner Sanctum, notable as a project involving Anton Reisenegger (of Chile’s Pentagram, and currently in Lock Up). Other cool contributions (for those who can read it) include interviews with Gorefest, the highly underrated Texans Imprecation, Macabre, Inner Sanctum, Alchemist, Allegiance, Anathema, Gorefest, Macabre, Mercyful Fate, Nightfall, Ripping Corpse, Undercroft, Vital Remains, Osmose Productions and others. (Note: A few interviews in this zine were unreadable due to printing errors, so they were not included). Lastly, I have numerous other zines in German, Finnish, and more that will go up periodically to diversify the site in coming months…
Also, Clandestine was resurrected in 2010. They published their second issue in
2011 and will press a third issue in December 2012. They are online here:

Uni-Force #7 (USA) 1990. Editor: “Mark Sawickis”
This zine was put out by Impetigo guitarist Mark Sawickis, and although the print is small, there are some cool interviews with demo-era Grave, and a nice one with Carcass right around the time “Symphonies…” dropped. Also, there is a cool photo gallery featuring original live shots of Death, Autopsy and others and features/interviews with Blasphemy, Blood, Dead Horse, Deceased, Disharmonic Orchestra, Doom, Exmortis, Hellbastard, Macabre, Necrophile, Master, Pungent Stench, Tiamat and Xysma…
