Blitzkrieg #3 (Germany) 1985. Editors: “Ralf Ludwig, Roland Dähne, Andreas Hartmann, Olaf Moretzki” (auf Deutsch)
Exceptional German zine from a great year in metal. Includes some pics that, at least I, have not seen before from Death, Celtic Frost and others. Features/Reviews and interviews with Overkill, Death, Bathory, Enforcer, Black Virgin, Iron Angel, Medieval, Nigro Mantia, Angel Dust, Poison (GER), Backwater, Nasty Savage, Savage Grace, Siren, Warfare and Venom. I found this one on an older hard drive, so not sure who originally scanned this/sent it, but thanks from all of us. PDF up as well in D/L section.
Disposable Underground #3 (VA, USA) 1991, Editor: “Richard Johnson”
Issue #2 of DI, out of the Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. Again, Rich was in early grind outfit Enemy Soil, prior to going on to playing in the likes of Agoraphobic Nosebleed and now Drugs of Faith. This long running zine can now be found online in downloadable format here, both new and old issues.
This issue has live reviews, adverts, reviews, opinions (one from Deceased guitarist Mike Smith) features and interviews with/on the Foundations Forum, Riki Rachtman, Slayer Zine, Cannibal Corpse, Atheist, Autopsy, Bolt Thrower, Coroner, Death, Dark Angel, Grave, Gorguts, Hexx, Fates Warning, Impetigo, Believer, Overkill, Queensryche, Pestilence, Relapse Records, Suffocation, Sacrifice, Unleashed, Century Media and much more…

Speed/thrash/crossover classic zine from Germany, a mid-80s DIY beast with interviews and write-ups on many great bands in their demo-days/first album-era – including Detente, Death, Onslaught, Heresy, Concrete Sox, Holy Terror, Lethal Aggression, Assassin, Poison (Ger), Excel, Desexult, Kreator/Destruction/Rage live review, Negazione, Sacrifice, Schizo, Voivod, Heathen, Raw Power and more (THX B.B.!).

Thanks to Paweł for the contribution. Another relic from the Polish scene to add to the collection. Features articles, pictures and/or interviews with Bendiction, Defecation, Carcass, Convulse, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Dorsal Atlantica, Exhorder, Kind Diamond, Loudblast, Master, Megadeth, Merciless, Paradise Lost, Pascal, Sadus, and more.
Grind Zone #1 (Italy/Spain) ? 1994. Director: “Claudio Cubito” (En Español)
A somewhat mainstream Italian publication, translated into Spanish for Spain (and published by a German conglomerate!), yet containing many cult underground acts in their prime. This goes to show just how far the ‘underground’ was from being really underground by 1994 – only to collapse back into obscurity more or less by 1995-96. Features and interviews with Entombed, Cathedral, Asphyx, Burzum, Tiamat, Samael, Gorefest, Anathema, Amorphis, Cynic, In Flames, Doomstone, Dark Tranquillity, Expulsion, Misanthrope, Osmose Productions, Century Media, Nuclear Blast, Peaceville, Roadrunner, Death, Eucharist, Impaled Nazarene, Absu, Phlebotomized, Sadness, Schizo, Cradle of Filth, Mind Riot, Black Shine, and Sadist.
Violent Noize #2 (NY, USA) June, 1986. Editor: “Borivoj Krgin ”
This zine is notable for being journalist and Blabbermouth.net founder Borivoj Krgin’s zine in the 80’s, and it reflects a biting (yet refreshing), critical writing style (…he did not hold back on his opinions!). It’s also notable that the term “death metal” is widely used in this zine, sort of forwarding the genre name almost as it was being invented. Includes cool demo reviews for bands that would later be signed like Blind Illusion, Holy Terror, Mordred, Assassin, Sepultura, Massacre, Death and Wehrmacht. The historical highlight here is certainly the interview with Chuck Shuldiner, where he talks about preparing to record ‘Scream Bloody Gore” (and a few other things). Also features interviews with Wehrmacht., Aggression, Terminal Death, Sacrifice, and although “Kreator” are listed on the cover, there is just an album review as far as I could tell…
SOD – Sounds of Death (Missouri, USA) #3, Summer 1993. Editor: “David Horn”
Like the issue #2 which I posted up a while back (see archives to the right), this is again sort of ‘in between’ a zine and magazine. David Horn’s eventually long-running Sounds Of Death still remained ambitious, and this time around it is packed with original art contributions from Cannibal Corpse cover artist Vincent Locke. Featuring pro-print, color cover, while keeping the underground feel, this issue also has an interview with Locke, along with Brujeria, Dismember, Cancer (nice tour story from their US tour with Deicide and Demolition Hammer), Venom (with trash talk on good old Raven), Kataklysm, Morbid Angel, and Vader. Lastly, TONS of cool record label ads.
Brain Damage Zine #2 (California, USA) 1985. Editors: “Vadim Rubin, Mike Rubenstein, and Ron Nieto”
The second issue from this classic zine out of Long Beach. My fav. part of this one is the ‘no posers’ Celtic Frost Drummer ad. Features and interviews from Bathory, Celtic Frost, C.O.C., Dark Angel, Death, Destruction, Possessed, Sodom, etc. Cheers again to Adrian at Pest Webzine for sending over the scans.
Brutal Torture Zine #1 (Ontario, CAN) 1986. Editors: “Ray and Stam.”
Humorous zine out of Canada that focused on a mix of hardcore and death metal, as well as bands from the Ontario scene. Cool live shots, and early interviews (again, with a humor approach) with Possessed, Death, Slaughter, Sacrifice, Gang Green, Hirax, Exodus, and more.
